An Assistant Music Officer II (Musicianship) is mainly deployed to:
(a) teach musicianship, aural and theory training classes at all levels, to prepare relevant teaching materials and undertake necessary follow-ups, as well as liaison with parents of trainees;
(b) serve as piano accompanist for Instrumental Music Training Scheme trainees in annual Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) practical examinations, Music Office trainees’ concerts, Music Camp concerts and all Music Office-organised activities; and
(c) serve as manager/accompanist and/or assistant conductor of Music Office choirs.
(Note: May be required to work irregular hours.)

(a)(i) have an associate diploma in piano performing conferred by a recognised music institution through public examination, or equivalent; or
(ii) have a diploma in music from a recognised institution with a major in piano, or equivalent;
(b) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (1)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(c) be able to speak fluent Cantonese.

For qualifications awarded by local institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of the official transcripts of studies and certificates are not required to be submitted at this stage of application. Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit all copies of their official transcripts of studies and certificates by email to eomopg@lcsd.gov.hk on or before 30 July 2026. Candidates should mark the post applied for and quote the on-line application number on the copies of every page of supporting documents.
Candidates who are invited for audition and selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts, certificates (specifying the major instrument(s) for which the relevant diploma / associate diploma was awarded) and proof of relevant working experience for verification and photocopies for record purposes. The application will be deemed unsuccessful if any candidate fails to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification.
Candidates who are invited for audition and selection interview will normally receive an invitation in about twelve to fourteen weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who are not invited for audition and selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of one year.
