Veterinarian (Part-time)

The Veterinarian (part-time) is mainly deployed on: (1) providing professional advice on equine health in order to safeguard the health and performance of racehorses in Hong Kong; (2) issuing official health certificate and endorse the required documents for animal or animal product exportation; (3) assisting in operation, management, and review of the Division; (4) assisting in the supervision of laboratory operations and applying professional scientific advice in collaboration with laboratory partners and Mainland competent authorities; (5) assisting the Division Head in handling testing accreditation and animal disease risk analysis; (6) supervising the implementation and enforcement of the following Ordinances and sub-legislation: Public Health (Animals and Birds) Ordinance, Cap. 139; prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance, Cap. 169; and Rabies Ordinance, Cap. 421; (7) performing routine professional input for animal infectious diseases; and (8) performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidates should : (1) be registered as a veterinary surgeon and holding a valid practising certificate issued under the Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinance, Cap. 529*; (2) have at least one year of experience in practice and preferably with large animal experience; (3) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and (4) Preference will be given to candidates with a valid Hong Kong driving license (Classes 1 & 2). * The Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinance, Cap 529 is administered by the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Hong Kong.
