(1) To check tickets, direct and take the audience to their seats; to carry out the venue regulations and other relevant duties assigned by venue Duty Officers;
(2) To supervise ushers to ensure that they perform their duties up to the required standard;
(3) To handle any difficult cases encountered by ushers and inform the Duty Officers if further action is required;
(4) To deploy ushers to man positions and arrange their working period according to the working situation and the nature of functions;
(5) To manage the personnel matters of ushers and prepare an annual appraisal report for them;
(6) To perform crowd management during the event and audience dispersal; and
(7) To perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers.
[Note: Usher Leaders are required to perform duties with a walkie-talkie in an environment of stage lighting (usually in dim light) and sounds. They also need to go up and down steep staircases inside the venues and keep communication with the audience to assist and direct them to the seats. When performing duties, Usher Leaders need to wear uniform and walk or stand continuously for a long period of time. They are required to work in irregular hours in daytime and at night from Mondays to Sundays including public holidays; and may need to work till midnight.]

Applicants should -
(1) (i) have Level 2 or equivalent [See Note (1)] or above in five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language, in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; OR
(ii) have Level 2 [See Note (2)] / Grade E or above in five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language, in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(2) Be able to read and write Chinese and English; speak fluent Cantonese, English and Putonghua; and
(3) have at least five years’ experience in working as an Usher in an indoor entertainment venue of over 10 000 seating capacity in Hong Kong.

(1) Applicants must apply online through the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau (https://www.csb.gov.hk) on or before 7 August 2026. Candidates should state clearly in their applications their full record of employment, academic qualifications and Chinese and English languages proficiency level as shortlisting criteria may be applied for selecting better qualified candidates to selection interviews. Applications which are incomplete, not clear that the candidate has met the entry requirements or submitted in person, by post, by fax or by e-mail will not be accepted.
(2) For qualifications awarded by local institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of official transcripts of studies and certificates are not required to be submitted at this stage of application.
(3) Candidates who are invited for selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of official transcripts, certificates and proof of relevant working experience for verification and photocopies for record purpose. The application will be deemed unsuccessful if any applicant fails to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification.
(4) Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation within 14 weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
