An Assistant Music Officer II (Chinese) is mainly deployed to:
(a) teach instrumental training classes and to liaise with parents on matters relating to the classes; to carry out administrative duties pertaining to his/her teaching jobs and to assist in recruitment of instrumental classes trainees;
(b) serve as member of the concurrent recruitment panels for the Instrumental Music Training Scheme classes, orchestra/band audition boards, Music Camp recruitment panels, and Internal Assessment panels;
(c) prepare teaching materials and select repertoire for instrumental training classes under his/her charge;
(d) serve as tutti player in the Instructor’s Orchestra/Ensemble;
(e) serve as the conductor of elementary and/or intermediate level orchestras/bands and to assist in their training, management and operation;
(f) assist in administrative matters concerning recruitment and audition of band and orchestra members; and
(g) assist in monitoring the maintenance and minor repair of musical instruments and in making evaluation and procurement recommendations, and to assist in checking of instruments upon procurement.
(Note: May be required to work irregular hours.)

(a) (i) have an associate diploma in Chinese instrument (Sheng) conferred by a recognised music institution through public examination, or equivalent; or
(ii) have a diploma in music from a recognised institution with a major study in a Chinese instrument (Sheng), or equivalent;
(b) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (1)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(c) be able to speak fluent Cantonese.

For qualifications awarded by local institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of the official transcripts of studies and certificates are not required to be submitted at this stage of application. Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit all copies of their official transcripts of studies and certificates by email to eomopg@lcsd.gov.hk on or before 4 June 2026. Candidates should mark the post applied for and quote the on-line application number on the copies of every page of supporting documents.
Candidates who are invited for audition and selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts, certificates (specifying the major instrument(s) for which the relevant diploma / associate diploma was awarded) and proof of relevant working experience for verification and photocopies for record purposes. The application will be deemed unsuccessful if any candidate fails to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification.
Candidates who are invited for audition and selection interview will normally receive an invitation in about twelve to fourteen weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who are not invited for audition and selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of one year.
